CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION REQUIREMANTS AND PROCEDURE WITH CIDB

Effective from 20 July 1995, it is mandatory for all local or foreign contractors to register with the Construction Industry Development Board (LPIPM) or CIDB under Section 25 of Act 520 (Amendment 2011) before undertaking and completing any construction work in Malaysia unless they granted exemption under Section 40 (1) of the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia Act 1994 (Act 520).

Any contractor who contravenes Section 25 on conviction shall be liable to a fine not less than ten thousand ringgit but not exceeding one hundred thousand ringgit under Section 29. Under Section 30 the Authority may by written notice be served on the contractor to cease from commencing or resume work construction or undertaking to carry out or complete construction work.

Referring to Section 25 (1) of Act 520 of the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB):
"No person shall engage in work or completion, undertaking to carry out or complete any construction work or claim himself as a contractor, unless he is registered with the Board and to hold a valid registration certificate issued by the Authority under this Act".

A)  LOCAL CONTRACTOR REGISTRATION (Contractor Registration Certificate - PPK / Certificate of Governmental Procurement Works- SPKK)  - 
  1. Register company with COMPANIES COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA (SSM) - ROC (SDN.BHD/BHD)- 
  2. Register company with COMPANIES COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA (SSM) - ROB / PLT (SOLE PROPRIETOR/PARTNERSHIP)- 
  3. Register company with SABAH/SARAWAK Company Registrar (no SSM registration) 
  4. Register company with COOPERATIVE COMMISSION OF MALAYSIA (SKM) /REGISTRAR OF SOCIETIES (ROS)
